Carl Gibson,
Managing Partner
Carl Gibson is a journalist, columnist, and editor with more than a decade of professional experience in print, broadcast, and online journalism. In early 2011 he co-founded US Uncut, a nationwide grassroots anti-austerity campaign that eventually spread to more than 100 US cities. US Uncut was featured in the documentary We’re Not Broke, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and streamed on Netflix. US Uncut later transitioned into a digital media company that garnered as many as 40 million monthly page views and ranked among the top 25 mobile websites in the US in July of 2016. Gibson’s work has since been published in CNN, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Houston Chronicle, Barron’s, Business Insider, The Independent, and NPR, among others. Birdie Cardillo, Partner
Birdie Cardillo (she/her) is originally from two small towns in Louisiana, and thinks she shouldn’t have to pick one. After leaving home at 17, she’s had more opportunities to be a student of life than anybody’s university, though she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from the University of Missouri. While she’s never had an opportunity to leave the United States, she still considers herself well-traveled, at least in the fictional locales of Anarres and Pern. If you ask her what her dream job is, she would only offer “Speaker For The Dead,” and every day on Earth is merely practice for this role. She is drawn to things that are true, and it seems whether the true things are sweet or bitter does not matter to her desire to know them. In her working life, she will call these truths “content” and herself a “content strategist.”
In her pursuit of a meaningful life here on planet Earth, she tells a lot of stories, sometimes for work, usually for pleasure. Forever a student of Black liberation theology, she holds a certificate in Movement Chaplaincy from the Faith Matters Network, and aims to foster deep connection(s) in virtual movement spaces. Most recently, she was the Social Media Marketing Specialist for the Unitarian Universalist Association, and a board member of Boston Community Cooperatives, Inc. as well as a resident. She is currently studying interaction design and firearms instruction.
She now lives in what she will only describe as a “hobbit-hole” in New England, with her partner, their small half-feral child, a parrot that is determined to never belong to anyone, and plenty of plants that she worries aren't getting enough sun. You are likely to find her reading, studying, or plucking the theme to Howl’s Moving Castle on her kalimba. If you manage to find her IRL, that is.
